SKYLANES is the latest free 3 track offering from Birmingham based artist Dean Cook's alter ago, Machine Boy. It's an astonishing journey through his artistic soundscape of feeling and mood. In the title track, his influences are showing - touches of Tangerine Dream with a smattering of Brian Eno - proffering a quiet stroll through his complex sequences of sound.

FRAMELAND starts gently with the sound building as he guides you into his world that consists of a strangely out of step musical landscape from beginning to end. He has deliberately avoided synching the synths, welcoming the miss-timings "to make it a little more interesting." "No overdubs" he says, when 8pr as for his input, and then "well, I kinda lie a little...the only pre stuff I did was where there are drums..." And then his beat kicks in....off kilter and out of time and somehow it works! Experimental and interesting military style beats form a frame for track #0202. Bass distortion overlaid with tinkling synth sounds just make this work on every level.

Machine Boy's avante garde approach might be common to experimental artists, but he invariably stands out amongst his peers with his staggeringly evocative compositions.

Here's the thing - think of Machine boy as a visual artist as well as an audio artist. Stand back and let the music wash over you in waves of interesting experimental sound.
